Public Meeting on development at Richmond and Tweedsmuir

UPDATE: Further to the earlier notice for the meeting on Wednesday February 6 at 7:00 pm at Hilson Public schoo,l with respect to the proposed development at Richmond Road and Tweedsmuir, please note that the meeting has been changed to Thursday February 7 at 7:00 pm at Hilson Public School.

The Hampton Iona Community Group was also advised by the developer’s architect that the owner has decided to modify their plans and will now be seeking approval to build a 9 storey building rather than the earlier indicated 6 storey building (as shown in the photo attached to the earlier notice).

As such, with their plans to build a higher building, approval for this proposed development will now be through the Planning Committee rather than the Committee of Adjustment.  Given the proposed changes to this development, it is more critical that the community come out to this meeting to hear what the developer has to say and for the developer to receive input from the community.

If you have any questions, you can either contact the Community Group or Vince Colizza directly at vcolizza@colizzaarchitects.com or at 613-820-7881.

ORIGINAL POST, before the developer changed to a 9-story proposal. The Hampton Iona Community Group has been approached by Vincent Colizza Architects with respect to a proposed development at the southeast corner of Richmond Road and Tweedsmuir Ave.

The proposed development will be six stories. The bottom floor will be commercial with 5 stories of apartments above. The apartments will consist of a variety of one bedroom, one bedrooms + den, two bedrooms and two bedrooms + den.

The developer requires a number of variances from the Committee of Adjustment and plans to take the project forward for approval to the Committee in the latter half of February. The variances to be requested deal with such items as the size and depth of the rear and sideyards. As well, the developer is seeking a height of 21 metres whereas the bylaw permits a maximum building height of 15 metres. A picture of the proposed development is attached on the website.

At the request of the Hampton Iona Community group, the Developer has agreed to hold a meeting to present the proposed development to the community and to seek feedback. The meeting will be held on February 6 at 7:00 pm in the lobby of Hilson Public School. For further information you can either contact the Community Group or Vince Colizza directly at vcolizza@colizzaarchitects.com or at 613-820-7881.

The community is encouraged to attend this important meeting.

  1. Are they proposing condos or rental apartments? Your article doesn’t say.
