Hilson and Clare update

As you may be aware there is a proposal for the rezoning of 566 Hilson Avenue and 148 Clare Street to allow for 7 townhouses and 2 semi-detached houses.   The existing zoning allows for 6 semi-detached houses on the sites.  The Hampton Iona Community Group has written to the city noting our opposition to this spot rezoning request.  We do not consider this type of spot rezoning to be appropriate in the absence of the concurrence of the neighbours (which the developer does not have) and we furthermore note that even if with the rezoning, the developer would still require several minor adjustments as the proposed development does not even meet the normal zoning requirements for townhouses or the requirements of the recently passed Mature Neighbourhood Bylaw.  If you have any questions, please contact the community group.  If you have not yet made a submission to the City, I would encourage you to do so.  While the date for comments was August 11th, the Planners will often take comments while they are writing their report.
